Our two-doctor, American Animal Hospital Association ("AAHA")-accredited, small animal practice located in Canton, Georgia is looking for a full-time kennel assistant. You’ll play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and peace of mind to the families who love them. A positive attitude, team-oriented work habits and a love for animals is essential. Pet care experience is not required, but preferred.
The Kennel Assistant is responsible for caring for boarding pets, bathing pets and cleaning the kennel, grooming and cat boarding areas as well as the kennel yard. Some specific responsibilities are as follows: maintaining cleanliness in the kennel, cat condo and grooming areas as well as other parts of the hospital; managing pet nutrition and exercise during boarding; preparing spaces in the kennel and cat condos for boarding pets; administering daily medications; bathing pets; updating pet records.

Responsibilities
Feed, groom and weigh animals
Clean cages and kennels, and bathe animals
Clean examination tables and rooms and maintain medical equipment
Provide proper restraint of patients during non-surgical procedures, such as vaccinations and venipuncture
Administer medication as prescribed by Veterinarians
Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Veterinarian
Keep accurate records and logs
Skills
Prior pet care experience preferred
Flexible schedule, available to work weekends, holidays and over school break periods
Computer skills
Physically and mentally able to work efficiently and safely in a fast paced and challenging environment
Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team, responding with grace in stressful situations
Only reliable, hard workers with a desire to learn need apply!
Must be able to restrain and lift pets of all sizes, and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
