We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to explore and test our UnifiMI technology in industrial applications. UnifiMI Fastener Technology was developed and engineered to meet the highest quality standards of the medical device industries and is now being optimized for non-medical multi-use applications. This role requires in-person work at our Logan, UT office.

In this role, you will:

Technical:

Perform moderate to advanced product development tasks with moderate guidance:

Identify design requirements and generate novel fastener engineering solutions for industrial applications

Produce robust engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks

Collaborate with internal and external simulation partners to develop and optimize fastener designs for specific applications

Perform engineering analyses such as stress, FEA, basic failure analysis, tolerance stack, material selection and FMEA.

Apply a working knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes to optimize Design for Manufacturability

Develop and execute test protocols, interpret results, and publish associated reports

Rapidly work through design iterations to find and validate optimal solutions

Create and maintain design files in accordance with established Product Development Process

Organize and participate, as appropriate, in consultant meetings, industry conferences, and cross-department product development related activities

Participate in and/or lead design transfer activities

Perform effective time/project management activities

Leadership:

Participate in and/or lead project management tasks such as regular planning events, internal and external communications, and resource coordination.

Provide technical and project related direction and instruction to product development team members.

Draw upon external resources for expertise as necessary

Communication:

Lead effective communication efforts with internal and external stakeholders regarding status, timing, budgetary and design issues impacting the project.

Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Create and deliver project presentations to internal and external audiences

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline and 7 years relevant design experience, OR Master’s degree and 5 years experience, OR PhD degree and 3 years experience.

Knowledge of aerospace, automotive, railway or construction fasteners is required.

Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to “do whatever it takes” to find successful solutions is required.

Demonstrated ability to leverage manufacturing process and material knowledge in engineering designs.

Proficient in solid modeling. Experience with Solidworks is preferred.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.

Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects from planning to completion.

Experience with ANSYS (or comparable) Simulation software is desired.
