Wall and Floor Tiler – Full Time
$75,000 – $80,000 a year + Superannuation
Duties and Responsibilities
• Interpret architectural drawings and tiling specifications to determine layout and material selection for commercial and residential projects.
• Prepare installation surfaces by stripping old coverings, cleaning substrates, filling irregularities, and ensuring a level base for new tile application.
• Plan and mark precise tile placement lines to guide layout and ensure symmetry and visual alignment.
• Mix and apply bonding agents and adhesives evenly before placing tiles to secure strong adhesion to floors or walls.
• Cut and shape a variety of tiles (ceramic, porcelain, stone, mosaic, terrazzo) using hand tools or power cutters to fit corners, fixtures, or curved areas.
• Position and lay tiles with consistent spacing, using spacers and leveling systems to achieve uniformity and professional finish.
• Apply grout between tiles, remove excess material, and polish surfaces to complete a neat and durable result.
• Install waterproofing membranes and sealants in wet areas to comply with building standards and enhance moisture resistance.
• Work on bespoke and decorative tiling patterns, including detailed mosaic installations and large-format tile panels for high-end finishes.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and subcontractors to coordinate installation schedules and manage on-site material handling.
• Adhere to WHS protocols by maintaining a clean, hazard-free worksite and using tools and equipment responsibly.
• Troubleshoot installation challenges on site and implement corrective actions to maintain timelines and quality benchmarks.
• Participate in project estimation and planning based on prior experience in managing complex tiling scopes.
Job Requirements:
• Proven experience managing and executing wall and floor tiling projects in both commercial and residential construction environments
• Demonstrated ability to install a wide range of tiling systems, including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, terrazzo, and mosaics
• Hands-on knowledge of project workflows, including interpreting drawings, site preparation, material coordination, and defect resolution
• Skilled in surface preparation, tile cutting, alignment, grouting, and waterproofing application to industry standards
• Strong project oversight skills with experience coordinating subcontractors, managing timeframes, and ensuring quality control
• Experience delivering high-value tiling projects (including villas, apartments, retail spaces, and public infrastructure)
• Familiarity with safety protocols, site compliance, and collaborative team operations in dynamic work environments
• Background in customer communication, site inspections, and client satisfaction through project delivery
• Experience with tools and systems such as Aconex and Bluebeam for site documentation and project tracking
