Description:

Policy Advisor – Energy Policy & Legislation

Location: Washington, D.C.

A prominent bipartisan public policy team is seeking a Policy Advisor with 5+ years of experience in energy policy and federal legislative processes. This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career professional to play a central role in shaping energy policy outcomes for sophisticated corporate and institutional clients.

What You’ll Do

As a Policy Advisor, you’ll support clients on issues ranging from energy transition and infrastructure to climate policy, utilities regulation, and advanced energy technology. You’ll:

Track and analyze legislation, regulations, and appropriations related to U.S. energy policy

Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence Congressional and executive branch decision-making

Draft client communications, policy briefs, and strategic plans

Prepare clients for meetings with key policymakers and federal agencies

Collaborate with attorneys and policy professionals to address the legal and regulatory dimensions of energy strategy

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of experience working in energy policy, legislation, or federal affairs

Capitol Hill experience strongly preferred, particularly with committees of jurisdiction (e.g., House/Senate Energy Committees, Appropriations, etc.)

Experience at an executive branch agency (e.g., DOE, FERC, EPA) is also highly valued and may substitute for Hill work

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MPP, or similar) preferred

Excellent writing, research, and verbal communication skills

Team-oriented, client-focused, and eager to work on impactful public policy matters

Why This Role?

You’ll join a collaborative, mission-driven lobbying and policy team embedded in a full-service law firm—giving you the platform to advocate effectively on both policy and regulatory fronts. With access to high-profile clients, complex challenges, and bipartisan networks, this role offers the chance to shape the future of energy policy from a place of influence and integrity.
