Atalco Gramercy Operations is the leading producer of Alumina in the United States. Our Gramercy refinery produces 1.2 million tons a year of smelter grade alumina (SGA) for the production of aluminum as well as chemical grade alumina (CGA) which is used in a wide array of industrial applications.

We are currently seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician for our Gramercy, LA refinery.

Job Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for analyzing and performing preventative maintenance inspections and services on various machines and equipment on site. He /She will report to the Reliability Manager and interface with the Vibrations Analysts, Maintenance Supervisors, and Operations Supervisors.

Essential Functions

Manually collect vibration data using a commtest handheld data collector.

Manually collect monthly oil samples.

Perform infrared surveys to gather temperature profiles of various equipment.

Must have basic understanding of pumps, gearboxes, turbines, compressors, fans, conveyors, electric motors, and other types of rotating equipment.

Must have basic understanding of lubricating oil and grease

Has to be proficient in problem solving and have a basic understanding of process systems.

Proficient in written communications.

Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Must have Safety Awareness.

Education/Training Requirements

Highschool diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related degree

Must have at least 2 years of experience in this field

Work Environment

External – Working outside in the elements – rain, cold, heat – dusty environment.

Internally – Office environment.

Physical Demands

May be required to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.

May have to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Requirements:
