The Manager, Network Engineering is responsible for leading and overseeing our network engineering team. This role involves managing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, drive innovation and lead strategic initiatives to support business objectives. Success in this role is demonstrated by innovative thinking, a scalable and automation first approach, and a true servant leader.
RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and management to a team of highly skilled network engineers
Lead the design and implementation of complex network topologies, ensuring seamless integration of various network components while adhering to security and scalability standards. Lead with an "automation first" or "DevOps" mindset
Lead a team to troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. Platforms include but are not limited to Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Dell, etc.
Oversee network strategies, policies, and best practices to ensure robust, scalable, and secure network operations
Oversee network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and cybersecurity best practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define network requirements for new projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and network best practices
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in DDoS mitigation and networking, and apply this knowledge to enhance the organization's network infrastructure
Understanding of DDoS attack vectors, attack trends, and emerging threats to proactively enhance the organization's DDoS mitigation capabilities
Collaborate with QTS InfoSec teams to develop, test, and refine incident response plans for DDoS attacks, ensuring rapid and effective response when needed
Manage on-call rotation to provide timely support for network emergencies and incidents
Participate in Major Incident bridges and lead teams to service restoration.
Demonstrate current industry knowledge as it pertains to the following; Management of peering/IX/NAP issues, a proficient level of understanding in contemporary network architectures, networking security protocols/procedures, and network scaling/capacity issues BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a technical or business domain or equivalent professional experience
Three or more years of managerial experience in network engineering
Product familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Arista and other switch/routing vendors
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong team building, mentoring, and coaching skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Data Center Experience
Ansible and/or NetDevOps experience
Relevant network engineering certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, JNCIE, or equivalent certifications in DDoS mitigation platforms.
Service provider experience, preferably in a Data Center environment.
Advanced skill level with Cisco iOS, iOS-XR, and/or Nexus OS (NX-OS)
Masters Degree KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
