JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Arts and Architecture at Penn State is seeking applicants for the position of Facilities Representative. Facilities assigned to the College of Arts and Architecture include faculty and student studios, shop-related support spaces, specialized creative activity and research studios, and public venues: five galleries, five public performance facilities (four on campus and one downtown), and the Palmer Museum of Art. The primary focus of this position is to serve as assistant to the college’s facilities manager.
The Facilities Representative primarily serves as a liaison for facilities-related issues and is often the primary point of contact for unit personnel and other customers within the assigned facility or facilities; is responsible for investigating or coordinating responses for facilities problems, complaints, emergencies, special events or other facility issues or operations.
The Facilities Representative serves the assigned area for ongoing/standing University-wide initiatives and committees (e.g., parking and safety); coordinates facility planning initiatives (space usage, maintenance, alterations, or new construction), including developing budgets, project support and management, purchasing fixtures, furniture or equipment and maintaining records, data, or other relevant files associated with these activities.
This position may also oversee physical inventories of capital equipment, may act as the contact for safety related issues or act as the facilities safety officer, and coordinate facility access and security issues.
In addition to other duties as assigned, the Facilities Representative will act as facilities liaison with University officials and offices (EHS, OPP, Risk, Procurement, etc.) and external agencies (i.e., regulatory, Labor and Industries, OSHA, CDC, DHS).
The Facilities Representative will also be responsible for other duties as assigned. Frequent availability outside of typical business hours and on the weekends is required for the Facilities Representative to direct and coordinate emergency maintenance, mitigation, and repairs.
This is a full-time staff position reporting directly to the Facilities Manager. This position will be filled at the Professional or Intermediate Professional level, depending on the final applicant’s experience and education. The Professional level requires a minimum of an Associate Degree; previous relevant work experience will be accepted in lieu of education. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.
The successful candidate must have good communication skills, pay acute attention to detail, have excellent organizational skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently. This position requires knowledge of facility systems and architectural details.
To be considered for this position, submit a cover letter and resume.
