Position Description
The purpose of this position is to lend engineering support to the plant production effort and be responsible for engineering activities required to introduce new equipment and technologies to the facility. The position is also responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of facility and customer engineered drawings. This position is responsible fore the advancement of CI (Continuous Improvement) within the organization of the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement equipment and procedures to improve efficiency of operations
Provide engineering input into new projects requested for development
Must be proficient in CAD/CAM software, specifically AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Develop specifications and work to minimize costs associated with introducing innovative technology to the plant
Develop, design, and submit new projects for approval and manage approved projects to improve plant production effort
Backup and support Operations Technical Manager
Train and coach all personnel at the plant in the rules, principles, and practices of CI
Promote CI participation at all levels of the organization
Utilize all available means to communicate successes of CI throughout the facility
Coordinate and monitor CI projects where appropriate
Generate ideas concerning Lean application for discussion, review, and implementation
Maintain and analyze metrics and report to appropriate personnel accordingly
Participate in benchmarking and sharing of best practices at the facility.
Manage the Waste Elimination program
Other duties as assigned II. Pre-Hire Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, or chemical Engineering or related field or equivalent years of stable work history in an engineering position
Minimum 4 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing operation
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing
Able to supervise and coordinate the activities of an engineering department
Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications III. Post-Hire Training Requirements:

IV. Physical Requirements & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, tightening and loosening grip or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee continually works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, along with the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment.
