The Housing Operations Lead Coordinator functions as an integral member of the Housing and Residence Education (HRE) team. HRE is comprised of over 60 full-time staff members, 20 graduate and 800 undergraduate student staff members. The staff support over 16,000 residential students on 4 campuses. Reporting to the Assistant Director in HRE Housing Services, this position provides broad leadership and independent decision making in processing financial transactions related to housing contracts and assignments; completing and submitting accurate and detailed financial transaction statements for payments submitted via check and credit card; processing completed contracts; reviewing requests and communicating decisions regarding Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) and Service/Assistance Animals in compliance with ADA/HUD standards and guidelines in partnership with The Ohio State University Student Life Disability Services Office and ADA Coordinator Office; managing assignment information in the department’s housing occupancy management software related to room/assignment changes; anticipating, recognizing, and solving complex issues and concerns that arise with our customers while staying in compliance with University procedures and expectations regarding the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Payment Card Compliance (PCI), Institutional Data Policy (IDP), and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. The Housing Operations Lead Coordinator is responsible for processing in person and over the phone credit card payments; ensuring student billing is reflective of their Tuition Guarantee cohort requiring extensive understanding of the cohort structures and impacts on student fees; responding to inquiries or concerns submitted to the Housing and Residence Education departmental email account; assisting in training student and full-time staff on processes and procedures related to room changes, contract information with deadlines, and the University On Campus Housing Regulation (Columbus and Wooster/ATI Campuses); communicates with students, faculty, staff and parents regarding contractual Terms and Conditions and Addendums; serves as a point of contact and liaison between Housing Services and Student Life Financial Management, Student Life Facilities, Environmental Services, Student Life Disability Services, and other campus partners, and routinely works and communicates effectively with the Housing and Residence Education Administrative Coordinators, Hall Directors, and Assistant Directors.
Qualifications:
Required: High School diploma or GED ; 4 years of relevant experience in Student Affairs, higher education, or an educational environment; demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and find answers to questions by understanding and navigating university or large-scale organization; strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient in MS Office Suite (specifically Excel, Word, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams); technologically proficient; sustained commitment to fostering belonging and inclusion among all students, faculty, and staff.
Desired: Associate's degree; 6 years of relevant work experience in Student Affairs, higher education, or educational environment; experience working in a Housing and Residence Education office; experience working with Workday and StarRez or comparable systems, comfortable managing difficult and challenging situations.
Additional Information:
Pay Range: $17.74-$23.63/hr.
The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the selected candidate’s qualifications.
