The THRIVE (Trauma, Health, and Resilience In the midst of Violence Exposure) lab [thriveresearchlab.org; Director: Susan Yoon, PhD] is now accepting applications for the 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in child maltreatment and resilience science.
The THRIVE lab focuses on conducting and disseminating research to promote resilience and well-being among children who have experienced childhood trauma, including child maltreatment and exposure to violence. Specifically, we study the short-and long-term effects of child maltreatment on child and adolescent development, with a particular interest in identifying factors and mechanisms that promote or hinder resilience after exposure to trauma. The mission of the THRIVE lab is to generate new knowledge through high-quality, innovative research to inform interventions that will enhance the well-being of children and adolescents who have experienced childhood trauma.
The postdoctoral fellow will join the THRIVE lab to gain experience in child maltreatment and resilience research, get the opportunity to work on various quantitative and qualitative research projects (e.g., secondary data analysis, longitudinal studies, survey data collection, intervention evaluation projects) on childhood trauma, child maltreatment, adolescent behavioral health (e.g., substance use), and resilience.

This is a full-time salaried position (40 hours/week)
The postdoctoral fellowship is for a 12-month period, with the option to renew for an additional year, contingent on performance (funding available up to two years).

Key responsibilities:
Participate in research activities with interdisciplinary research teams to conduct research that examines resilience among children with a history of childhood trauma, including child maltreatment.
Lead quantitative data analysis
Collaborate on preparation and submission of scholarly manuscripts to leading journals
Assist with grant writing activities under the supervision and mentorship of the Director of the THRIVE Lab
Attend project team meetings
Other responsibilities may include conducting literature reviews, coordinating projects, and assisting IRB-related tasks
Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, Human Development and Family Studies, or a related discipline focused on child welfare and resilience research. (ABD candidates are welcome to apply)
Excellent scholarly writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous research experience in the fields of childhood trauma/ child maltreatment or resilience science
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong quantitative data analysis skills
Experience using administrative child welfare data
Experience and skills in GIS
Grant-writing experience
