Job Overview We are seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist to support the implemntation of a robust cybersecurity practiceacross Saronic’s systems, platforms, and operations.
This role is critical to ensuring SSaronic'sautonomous vessels meet stringent DoD cybersecurity standards, from development through deployment.
You will work closely with our engineering, evSecOps, and compliance teams to safeguard hardware, software, and communications against evolving threats.
Responsibilities
Monitor cybersecurity controls for embedded systems, onboard communications, cloud services, and mission systems.
Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing on all relevant systems.
Develop and maintain security documentation, including SSPs, POA&Ms, and incident response plans in compliance with NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, and CMMC 2.0 requirements.
Ensure secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices are in place across engineering teams.
Support accreditation efforts under the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to obtain and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) for DoD systems.
Support internal and external audits and security reviews.
Monitor emerging threats and implement proactive defenses against potential exploits in autonomous systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; Master’s preferred.
1-3 years of experience in a cybersecurity role, preferably in a defense, aerospace, robotics, or autonomous systems environment.
Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, NIST 800-171, CMMC, etc.).
Experience securing embedded systems, IoT, or autonomous platforms.
Strong understanding of networking protocols, encryption methods, and secure communications (including SATCOM, RF, and mesh networks).
Security certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CEH, or similar.
