Flavourist (Sweet & Beverages) - Your future position?

As the Flavourist (Sweet & Beverages), you will oversee flavour development projects to ensure a successful and efficient creation process in collaboration with customers, aligning with business objectives and adhering to EH&S policies. You will report to the Technical Head of Indonesia and will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Flavour Preparation & Evaluation:

Prepare flavour samples as requested for customer briefs, application needs, technology performance assessments, quality control standards, and physical testing.

Formulate new flavour creations or modify existing flavours to meet customer requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology developments across multiple flavour types.

Participate in the evaluation of materials developed internally or sourced externally, assessing their potential for flavour creation.

Execute daily tasks and manage assigned projects to deliver flavours that meet all defined project requirements, while considering good manufacturing practices, sample scale-up, production needs, and regulatory compliance.

Knowledge Sharing & Expertise:

Serve as a technical expert to resolve flavour production issues and customer complaints, taking full ownership of created flavours.

Coach, train, motivate, and mentor flavour assistants to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Engage with various departments within the company (analytical chemistry, sensory analysis, consumer understanding, regulatory compliance, flavour delivery, manufacturing, etc.) to broaden expertise.

Act as a technical advisor to internal and external partners and customers regarding ingredient and flavour performance across multiple flavour types.

Contribute to discussions on research plans, sensory results, and experimental observations, helping to connect insights to related technologies.

Propose suggestions for future research or sensory activities and contribute to the planning of technical or sensory projects.

Environmental Health & Safety:

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment in accordance with EH&S policies and ensure compliance among team members.

Your professional profile includes:

Flavourist School graduate, coupled with a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or Biology.

Minimum 3-6 years of work experience as a Flavourist within Sweet portfolio (Sweet goods, Bakery/Confectionery & Beverages).

Expert-level tasting skills and proven capability to adjust formulations for modifications based on customer briefs and regulatory requirements.

Strong knowledge of raw materials, flavour ingredients, and flavour creation systems.

Demonstrated expertise in leveraging innovative flavour technologies and formulations to enhance product development.

Proficient in customer interaction, effectively discussing flavour needs and providing solutions for performance issues.

Experience in preparing and presenting technical presentations related to flavour creation, along with a solid understanding of application equipment and manufacturing procedures.

Familiarity with analytical methodologies (e.g., G.C., HPLC, Mass Spec) are advantageous.

Ability to supervise and mentor flavour assistants.

Good communication skills, alongside strong project management skills.
