Position Title: Finishing Supervisor - SHIFT B

Pay Type: Hourly

FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Finishing Manager

Location: Rochester, NY - MTR

Salary Range: $28 - 32

Summary/Objective:

A SHIFT-B Finishing Supervisor is someone who provides direction, instructions, and guidance to a group of individuals so that company goals can be achieved, such as safety, quality, productivity, coordination of materials or shipping deadlines on a daily, weekly, yearly time frame. An effective leader will know his or her team members strengths, weaknesses, motivations, and places those people in positions as needed based on their levels of skill in those areas.

Essential Functions:

Finishing Shift Supervisor serves various roles in an organization. Their job is to get tasks done by using all the resources available to them, including other employees. Hands-on involvement in performing tasks of machine operators and helpers will be on an as needed basis. Below is a list of some important roles a Supervisor may have.

Develop a strategy the shift will use to reach its goal.

Provide any training to all crew members support their needs.

Communicate clear instructions to crews on work schedules before and during the shift.

Listen to crews’ feedback, and construct a plan to better process and report to the Finishing Manager as needed

Monitor personnel participation to ensure the training they are providing is being put into use, and to see if any additional training is needed.

Manage the flow of your shifts day-to-day operations.

Make sure we meet the quality standards on all job and meet the quoted times.

Check the work instructions and understand all instructions.

Check and review all completed work on a regular basis during the shift.

Report on the shift progress and review with the Finishing Manager. Report is to include how they will be achieving your shift goals.

Working with Team Leads on staging for following shifts work.

Report all issues to the next shift supervisor and/or Finishing Manager.

Instill in employees that clean areas are important and that everyone needs to do their part. Ensure that the shop, Machines are cleaned, and supply is put away at shift end.

Finishing shift Supervisor will need to communicate all maintenance and repair work that is needed to Finishing Manager and Maintenance team.

Expected to lead by example to promote unity and employee buy-in for progress. Must inspire employees to do better and improve quality, productivity, and process.

Instill that current successes will lead to long term success for the company; making a difference in working atmosphere and will show commitment to employee well-being.

Do not be afraid to be stern yet fair; people will trust and respect you for this quality.

Learn from your employees and show their input is important for progress and improvements.

Attend all meetings pertaining to scheduling of work or planning of new jobs.

Assist in any manner to expedite customer requirements or jobs through the facility.

Communicate with all supervisors or managers regarding any issues that arise during production or meetings.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to talk or hear.

Regularly required to sit, regular use of hands.

Frequently required to stand and walk.

Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machine.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee must be able to work under pressure with ever changing deadlines and priorities.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Good mathematical aptitude

Computer literate

Availability to work first, second or third shifts.

Preferred Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum 5 years’ experience in finishing operations

Experience in lead or supervisory role
