In this role, you will be responsible for actively designing, expanding and continuously advancing the future of our Marriott associate design system. Your work will involve supporting hands-on efforts, overseeing governance processes, and ensuring that the design system enhances the associate experience across our business. This system will support business, engineering, and design teams in developing tools and experiences that empower our associates to deliver exceptional guest service. You will partner closely with the Director of Associate Experience and Engineering colleagues in driving harmony and connection between products so the overall associate experience is accessible, seamless, easy and intuitive.
This position requires the ability to produce designs as an individual contributor while also providing guidance to both internal and external designers. A strong portfolio is critical. Your portfolio should showcase experience in UX, UI, interaction design, and design systems within large-scale organizations, with particular emphasis on accessibility, governance efforts, and documentation.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
6+ years of relevant experience in digital product design
4-year undergraduate degree, with bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in relevant discipline
Experience in multiple of the following user experience disciplines: user experience (UX), interaction design, and visual design
Demonstrated proficiency in general usability and transactional design best practices
Prior working experience with major, large-scale global digital apps, web sites, or other digital products
Proven experience with design systems in defining and deploying consistent, reusable componentry and patterns across various product portfolio
Proficient in industry best practices for writing technical design system documentation and leading governance process for technical (engineers) and non-technical (designers) audiences
Demonstrated expertise in prototyping tools, such as Figma, and its advanced features
Proven experience delivering scalable components and UI patterns across platforms (desktop, mobile web, app, etc.)

Expertise in large-scale global digital entities or other digital products within the hospitality, or travel industry
Experience with design systems for both enterprise and customer facing products
Superior communication and interpersonal skills including discovery facilitation, presentation, and storytelling
Experience influencing partner adoption and making it easy to realize business and development impact
Experience with Agile / SAFE development methodologies
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Demonstrating and Applying Discipline Knowledge
Manages and facilitates office hours for feedback and follows procedures to propose new elements when necessary
Champions appropriate patterns, components, and styles during user experience design reviews and workshops
Produces sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, flows, designs, motion specs, prototypes and/or presentations as needed to communicate experience design and interaction considerations
Provides subject matter expertise on key functional systems to help shepherd strategic initiatives from idea to feasible implementation
Provides subject matter expertise on hotel brands and the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program to help ensure they are infused correctly and seamlessly throughout digital products
Produces both innovative high-level design concepts / strategy visualizations as well as development-ready designs with specifications
Ensure a quality experience on live digital products by participating in the user acceptance testing process
Uses software including: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite; Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; Has familiarity with developer tools like Storybook
Keeps skills up-to-date on industry trends and applies new knowledge to job, identifying strategic opportunities for competitive advantages through those findings
Clearly present your work citing industry best practices, qual and quant data to support your decisions
Be a thought partner providing recommendations based on research and data for experience enhancements across all digital touchpoints
Collaborates with a variety of user experience disciplines within the team (UX, UI, Information Architecture, Design System/Standards, User Research, Copywriting) to advance your work
Measurement & Analytics
You value data or insight over opinion, by basing decisions on metrics, segment data, and user research findings and insights.
Delivers measures, and improves designs based on quantitative and qualitative feedback using various user research methodologies
Comfortable with multiple qualitative and quantitative research methods, like surveys, usability testing, multivariate testing, A/B testing, etc.
Breaks down designs into options/variables for A/B or multi-variate testing
Managing Work, Projects, and Policies
Provides accurate estimates as to needed time to complete work to feed project plans (and therefore personal deadlines)
Meets deadlines once agreed upon
Reports impediments to completing work and meeting deadlines
Provides regular status updates to manager

Additional Responsibilities

The pay range for this position is $52.06 to $80.96 per hour.
