Description:
The Lead Automation Engineer is responsible for mentoring and guiding the Robotics team across various projects. This role also involves providing support to the Production team by programming ABB robotics systems, developing procedural documentation, and designing and building mechanical fixturing and tooling. All activities are performed in coordination with the operation of rotary Thermoforming equipment.
Responsibilities:
Coordinating departmental goals with first and second shift team members
Write and modify robot programs
Design and build robot cell fixturing
Design and build EOAT
Simulate robot systems
Develop technical documentation
Make necessary changes to achieve cycle time
Document all changes to robot programs, fixtures and EOATs
Program PLC's, robots, motion systems, and vision systems
Set up communication with the PLC and peripheral equipment
Robot zone setup
Robot I/O Configuration
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
Associates or Bachelor of Science in related field, or equivalent years of work experience
Able to work independently on projects and as a member of a team
Great motivational and people skills
Must be self-motivated
Must be willing to learn new things
Ability to think outside the box
Ability to read and understand Electrical and Pneumatic prints
Exposure to ABB industrial robots, Rockwell/AB controls, HMI's sensors, and vision systems
Troubleshooting experience with PLC programs
Proficient with Robotic Path Teaching
Extensive experience with Robot Studio and SolidWorks greatly preferred
Works well with a variety of different people from diverse backgrounds
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
Motivated and passionate about working with people and overcoming challenges

Starting Pay: $60,000 – 80,000.00 (based on experience)
