Human Resources Manager
An established industrial operation is seeking a results-driven HR Manager to oversee all human resources functions across a unionized, high-compliance work environment. This role is central to aligning people strategies with operational goals, managing labor relations, and ensuring full compliance with California labor regulations and safety standards. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on HR expertise in a heavy industry setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Department Leadership: Manage the full scope of HR activities, including recruiting, compensation, benefits, training, performance management, and employee relations.
Strategic Alignment: Partner with plant leadership to implement workforce strategies that support operational goals, improve performance, and promote a strong workplace culture.
Labor Relations: Administer union contracts, handle grievances, support labor negotiations, and maintain positive relationships with union representatives.
Compliance Oversight: Ensure alignment with federal, state (especially California), and local labor laws, as well as internal safety and HR policies.
Talent Development: Oversee onboarding, training initiatives, and succession planning, with a focus on skill-building and leadership growth in industrial roles.
Performance Management: Guide performance reviews and address employee relations matters while ensuring compliance with negotiated agreements and company protocols.
Metrics & Reporting: Track HR KPIs and manage department budgets, using data insights to drive improvements and allocate resources effectively.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field (advanced degree or HR certification preferred).
Experience: 7+ years in human resources, with experience in union environments and industrial operations strongly preferred.
Expertise: Strong knowledge of California labor law, OSHA/MSHA regulations, and best practices in HR compliance, employee relations, and workforce development.
Skills:
Proficient with HR software (e.g., Paychex or similar systems).
Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
Effective leadership and organizational skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $100,000 – $120,000 annually, based on experience
