Position Overview:
As a Controls Engineer with Helion, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation and control systems to improve manufacturing processes, enhance safety, and support continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to implement efficient and reliable control solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
Maintain and improve existing automation and control systems across the facility.
Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Ensure all control systems comply with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and user manuals.
Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel and operators.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably metals or heavy industry.
Proficient in PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley preferred).
Strong understanding of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.).
Experience with SCADA systems and data acquisition tools is a plus.
Solid knowledge of electrical schematics, panel layouts, and safety standards (NFPA 70E, NEC).
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
