QUALA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a long-term contract role working on-site in Foster City, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an organization that is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. They are transforming mobility-as-a-service by developing a fully autonomous, purpose-built fleet designed for AI to drive and humans to enjoy!

You will be working as part of a Prototyping Team that is responsible for unblocking the intricacies of Autonomous Mobility. This team is a technical hub to resolve challenging engineering and design problems in a highly cross-functional environment. Within the Prototyping Engineering team, you will be called to develop and design new ideas in a fast-prototyping environment.

Responsibilities:

You will design, in CATIA V6, prototype hardware and electromechanical systems

You will generate 2D drawing packages for fabrication and assembly

You will evaluate the dynamic, static, structural and thermal-mechanical performances of mechanical assemblies

You will optimize the design and build of our Prototype Development Fleet

You will collaborate with experts in AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision and Robotics from all teams throughout the organization

Qualifications

Strong basis of Mechanical Engineering and Physics

Experience with 2D drawing packages, including GD&T Design with CAD tools such as CATIA V6

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering

At least 2 years relevant experience

Integrating electromechanical systems

FEM Simulation

Cinematic and Dynamic Simulation

Prototyping Experience

Automotive or Motorsport Experience

Software Experience: SOLIDWORKS, SimWise4D, MATLAB, Simulink

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly contract rate range $50.00 - $58.00 based on experience and qualifications.
