Why this job – CONTROLLER:
A growing construction firm in Bozeman is seeking a Controller to take full ownership of its accounting and financial operations. This newly created role reports directly to ownership and was established to support the company’s continued expansion and the need for a more robust financial infrastructure. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on in day-to-day accounting but is also eager to play a strategic leadership role.
In this position, you’ll oversee all core accounting functions including billing, AP/AR, cost accounting, and financial reporting, while also leading the financial planning process—creating budgets, developing forecasts, and providing meaningful analysis to guide decision-making. You’ll have the chance to drive company-wide initiatives like ERP implementations, system upgrades, and process improvements.
The Controller will manage a team of six and serve as a key partner to the leadership team, offering financial insight and helping shape the company’s future.

What You'll Actually Do:
Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, AP/AR, cost accounting, inventory management, and revenue recognition
Develop budgets and forecasts, analyzing and reporting on key variances
Build and maintain cash flow models to support strategic decision-making
Evaluate and enhance existing processes to improve accuracy and efficiency
Lead major initiatives, including ERP implementations and system upgrades
Provide detailed financial reporting and project insights to leadership
Manage and mentor a team of six accounting professionals
Ensure full compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of hands-on accounting experience
Proven leadership with prior supervisory responsibilities
Familiarity with construction accounting is a plus, but not required
Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements
Proficient in advanced ERP systems and data management
Where and How Much:
Target Compensation $120-145K + discretionary bonus
100% in Bozeman office
