Position Summary:
The Controller is a key financial leader responsible for managing the finance and billing functions within a healthcare environment. This role ensures the accurate and timely collection, consolidation, and reporting of financial data, supporting informed decision-making across the organization. The Controller upholds financial integrity by maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), healthcare regulatory requirements, and payer guidelines. This role also supports external reporting and ensures internal controls are in place to safeguard organizational assets and optimize financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to finance and billing teams, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all financial operations.
Oversee preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and internal management reports.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state healthcare regulations, and third-party payer requirements.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to align financial planning with operational goals.
Manage external audits, cost reporting, and regulatory filings related to healthcare finance.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance revenue cycle performance and financial reporting accuracy.
Monitor and enforce internal controls to ensure financial integrity and protect against risk.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial leadership, preferably within the healthcare sector.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with healthcare billing, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with healthcare financial systems such as Sage Intacct is a plus.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Please note: this position is mostly remote but does require 1 day a week in-office.
