Title: Data Center Engineer (VDI) with TS/SCI
Salary: $167,000 per year
Position Description:
The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) - Data Center Engineer will provide infrastructure engineering for periodic data center refreshes and/or new data center technologies, including future cloud capabilities.
Position Job Duties:
Design, deliver, and optimize Infrastructure Services to improve security, availability, performance, and resource utilization in the data centers
Review current infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to identify potential improvements
Analyze, refine, and document the requirements for transition from legacy hardware into modern data center infrastructure environment
Design and build host & tenant environments with security-hardened configurations for infrastructure services and design ongoing maintenance practices and procedures for infrastructure-hosted service patching and updates
Design virtual Infrastructure services to maximize the available capacity of physical computing, storage, and network hardware resources
Document security, configuration, and performance benchmarks of Infrastructure Services
Design production infrastructure services that support highly available, private cloud, active-active data center operations within the constraints of the environment
Design practices, procedures, Automation, and Orchestration to provision, de-provision, and entitle Compute, Storage, and Network resources
Identify infrastructure security-relevant actions, tests, and key performance indicators for Information Dashboard and Reporting
Design Service Catalog Items for Infrastructure Services for business and IT technical services
Provides advanced technical support in the research, experimentation, business analysis, and use of systems technology, including architecture, integration capabilities, and database management
Develop the end-to-end vision and logical design that translate into physical databases and how the data will flow through the successive stages involved
Knowledgeable and practices a broader range of data administration skills, often in a Business Process Reengineering context
Participates in strategic data planning, including developing and implementing DA policies, standards, and procedures
Understands data from the perspective of data processing and in the context of different life-cycle phases
Activities may include data quality engineering, metadata consolidation and integration, metamodel development and maintenance, repository management, data warehouse design, data mining, data security administration, and formulation of enterprise-specific data metrics
Languages: English (Native or bilingual proficiency)
Experience required:
TS/SCI level clearance is required
8 to 10 years of experience with a BS/BA, 6 to 8 years with an MS/MA, or 3 to 5 years with a PhD
Experience in Infrastructure/Datacenter engineering and integration for both physical and virtual infrastructure hosting one or more Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX, and/or AIX systems
Experience in VMware vCloud Enterprise Suite and hybrid cloud with multiple classified Government clouds
Certification Requirement:
Must have a current DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level III certification
Desired:
Professional-level Linux, VMware, Network, Storage, or Cloud certifications desired
ITIL Foundations certification desired
