Sr. Software Engineer (contract) - top hedge fund

Interested in working for a top 10 hedge fund on a mission critical project?

This hedge fund is known as one of the largest and most successful activist investors in the world, and has one of the highest employee approval ratings of all the top investment management firms. They're looking to bring on a strong software engineering consultant to support their cross asset OMS platform.

You'd be tasked with adding or enhancing existing implementations of asset classes into the platform, making general technical improvements to drive the project forward and set them up for success in the longer term, and assisting on troubleshooting / helping out with production support as needed. This is a very lean team and they need someone like yourself who can help drive the project to completion.

Technically speaking, they need an engineer who take pride in writing code as elegant and clean as possible, rather than someone who's looking to make quick fixes - that won't help them in the grand scheme of things so this is important. Their main issue is that the code they have now is more complicated than it should be, so they need someone willing to get into the weeds and fix things internally, instead of simply working around the problem (patching the hole in the boat with a band-aid).

Main tech stack you'd be using consists of C#, SQL, and React, though having a background/experience with K8s would be beneficial as they're moving onto the Kubernetes platform. It's not required to have hedge fund/financial industry experience, they're more interested in someone who's a strong communicator and can be counted on in high pressure situations. Any experience with event sourcing is considered a massive advantage.

This is a 12 month contract role with a high chance for an extension. It's a hybrid position that'll require you to work on-site 3x per week at their office in Midtown Manhattan. Their ceiling for compensation caps off at $1300 for a daily pay rate.
