We are seeking an experienced VMware Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our virtualized infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related virtualization technologies, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of virtual environments. This role involves working closely with IT teams to optimize, troubleshoot, and scale virtualization solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Virtualization Infrastructure Management:
Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machines (VMs).
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization within the virtual environment.
Perform upgrades, patching, and version management for VMware environments.
Manage storage, networking, and compute resources for virtual machines.
System Optimization & Performance Tuning:
Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure efficient operation of virtualized environments.
Implement best practices for high availability (HA), fault tolerance (FT), and disaster recovery (DR).
Optimize virtualization infrastructure for load balancing, failover, and scalability.
Security & Compliance:
Implement security best practices for virtualized environments, ensuring compliance with organizational and industry standards.
Apply security patches, updates, and configurations to protect against vulnerabilities.
Manage role-based access controls (RBAC) and permissions within VMware environments.
Automation & Scripting:
Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerCLI, PowerShell, or other scripting languages to streamline system administration tasks.
Automate VM provisioning, backup processes, and system monitoring.
Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity:
Manage and support VMware snapshots, backups, and replication solutions.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) strategies for business continuity.
Perform regular testing of failover and recovery procedures.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
Provide Tier 2/3 support for VMware-related incidents and escalations.
Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, storage issues, and network connectivity problems.
Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in VMware engineering, virtualization, or system administration.
Expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and NSX.
Experience with SAN/NAS storage solutions, networking (VLANs, vSwitches), and enterprise-grade hardware.
Strong knowledge of VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, and SRM.
Proficiency in PowerShell/PowerCLI for automation.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, VMware Cloud).
Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized workloads.
