Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to support underwriting operations for a dynamic insurance team in the Philadelphia area. This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills and an interest in the insurance industry. You’ll play a key part in helping underwriters process submissions, gather documentation, and maintain accurate records to ensure timely and compliant decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist underwriters with reviewing and processing insurance applications and renewals
Gather and verify required documentation from agents, brokers, or clients
Prepare quotes, binders, and policy documentation in accordance with guidelines
Maintain accurate data entry and file organization within underwriting systems
Communicate professionally with internal teams and external partners
Support reporting, audits, and compliance processes as needed
Qualifications:
1–2 years of experience in insurance support, underwriting, or administrative role
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn internal software systems
Prior experience in property & casualty or commercial lines insurance a plus
