Nathan Kunes Inc. (NKI) has provided Software, Systems, and Cybersecurity engineering services to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community since 1998. We specialize in mission-critical security solutions and seek a Senior Systems Security Engineer to support the U.S. Navy’s Cryptographic Modernization Program and Data in Transit security efforts.About the Role
This position is ideal for a mid-to-senior-level engineer with expertise in cryptographic security, network security, and DoD cybersecurity compliance. You will support PMW 130, collaborate with the DoD CIO, and advise Programs of Record (PoRs) on Data in Transit security strategies.Key Responsibilities
Serve as a technical advisor for Data in Transit security requirements, working with PMW 130 & FLTCYBER.
Assess network security gaps, review PoR network diagrams, and provide risk mitigation recommendations.
Represent PMW 130/Navy in Data in Transit security meetings with the DoD CIO.
Assist in collecting security compliance data and tracking cybersecurity initiatives.
Draft technical reports, whitepapers, and policy recommendations.
Monitor NSA NIAP-certified cryptographic products and analyze security features.
Participate in DoD security meetings (travel may be required).Required Qualifications
3-15 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or Network Security.
Strong network security and cryptographic background (CISSP, CCNA preferred).
Experience advising on Data in Transit security strategies.
Knowledge of IP security, cryptographic technologies, and cybersecurity policies.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Active U.S. security clearance required.Preferred Experience
Familiarity with NSA Type 1 cryptographic products and DoD Communication Systems.
Understanding of DoD acquisition, testing, and sustainment processes.
