Job Description:
As Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of the company so that we can fulfill our vision of sharing joy, delicious food and operating restaurants of distinctively high quality. Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, preparing and analyzing financial statements, optimizing and executing period-end close, supporting audit activities and other general accounting responsibilities. Core Responsibilities at Brassica + Northstar Restaurant Group:
Champion our vision and values by preparing financial statements to help support exceptional restaurant experiences
Assist in the monthly financial close process, including reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and performing timely review of results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with US GAAP, internal controls and best practices
Perform complex accounting tasks involving areas such as depreciation, amortization, and lease/occupancy expense allocations
Track and analyze performance trends, and provide actionable insights
Support budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with finance, operations, and other departments
Partner with teams including operations, purchasing, design and construction, payroll and HR to ensure proper accounting of business activities
Support all accounting processes including: reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
Generate month-end reporting including P&L, balance sheet and statement of cash flows with accompanying variance analysis
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness
Represent the department in interactions with all levels of management, including supporting restaurant operation teams with accounting and finance-related needs
Recognize, coordinate, and execute special projects that serve the team’s and organization’s objectives
Support audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in restaurant, hospitality, or retail sectors
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting including GAAP research tools and FASB codification
CPA and/or Public Accounting experience a plus
Proven ability to deliver accurate reports on time and manage multiple priorities effectively
Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills; able to explain financial concepts clearly to non-financial teams
Tech-savvy and adaptable; proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and accounting software (Restaurant365 experience a plus)
Self-motivated, curious, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
Willingness to go ‘above and beyond’ when needed to ensure timely completion of deliverables
