Job Title: Software Engineer – Sequence-to-Function Models
Location: Onsite in SSF, CA preferred. Remote option available, but must be available during PST.
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: $38-50/hr+ (Dependent on experience)
Contract Duration: Through December, 2025
Responsibilities:
Refactor and optimize the existing DNA foundation model codebase to ensure maintainability, readability, and scalability.
Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies to ensure high test coverage.
Design and build a robust, user-friendly API for internal sequence-to-function modeling applications.
Integrate and implement new computational methods and modeling approaches as required.
Fine-tune sequence-to-function models when necessary.
Requirements:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Proficiency in Python with significant experience in developing maintainable and scalable codebases.
Strong expertise in PyTorch.
Experience with single-cell omics data and familiarity with DNA/RNA sequence modeling frameworks (e.g., Enformer, Borzoi) and the scverse ecosystem.
Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and a passion for computational biology and software development.
Proven track record in applying software engineering best practices, including version control (Git), comprehensive testing, modular design, and appropriate abstraction levels.
