Cloud Platform Architect Manager

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Architect Manager to lead a team of architects and cloud platform administrators in designing, building, and maintaining scalable Azure-based platform solutions. This role focuses on optimizing cloud infrastructure to support evolving business needs, ensuring alignment with architectural standards, and enabling seamless data capabilities across the organization.

This position reports to the Head of Global Data Engineering and BI and will directly manage a team of two employees and four to six contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team of platform architects, ensuring clear assignment and timely delivery of work that aligns with team skillsets and organizational standards.

Conduct performance management for direct reports, including goal setting, progress reviews, and career development conversations.

Build strategic and tactical roadmaps to align with short- and long-term business objectives and oversee their implementation.

Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment on cloud platform strategies, risks, opportunities, and progress.

Provide mentorship on leveraging Azure capabilities such as secure configurations, monitoring, logging, and system integrations.

Deliver architectural solutions and documentation for complex business challenges.

Define and enforce architectural standards, governance frameworks, and best practices in collaboration with data engineering, analytics, and enterprise architecture teams.

Guide technical decisions on Azure services, system configuration, integration, and automation strategies using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.

Ensure platform compliance with enterprise security standards, including identity management, access control, and data encryption.

Oversee capacity planning, cost optimization, and performance tuning for cloud platform environments.

Evaluate emerging technologies and conduct proof of concepts (POCs) to enhance platform capabilities.

Required Skills & Experience:

10+ years of experience designing and architecting cloud platform solutions, primarily within Azure environments.

3+ years of experience leading cloud architecture and administration teams in a global setting.

Hands-on experience with Azure services including VMs, Functions, Containers, Storage, Cosmos DB, Messaging, and Security tools.

Strong understanding of enterprise-grade data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.

Demonstrated expertise in large-scale system design with a focus on performance, security, and cost-efficiency.

Familiarity with compliance standards and data protection (e.g., RBAC, GDPR, PCI, data encryption).

Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Azure DevOps).

Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert Certification.

Experience with Terraform and managing IaaS/PaaS environments.

Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.

Experience with agile methodologies and tools like JIRA and Confluence.

Industry experience in retail or other high-volume data environments.
