Overview
SBT's client has developed a groundbreaking technology platform that integrates the properties of advanced materials with the capabilities of silicon photonics, aimed at driving a transformative leap in AI workload efficiency.
They seek an experienced technical lead with a deep background in complex lens designs for applications that leverage free space optics. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in cross-functional collaboration to integrate silicon photonics hardware into platforms, as well as experience leading partnerships with foundry manufacturing teams.
This role requires a hands-on leader with an innovative mindset eager to challenge conventional thinking and develop cutting-edge products to advance photonics technology and transform markets.
Role
Design and develop complex optical lens systems and sub-systems that utilize free-space optics.
Create and optimize optical designs using simulation tools such as Zemax, Code V, and FRED to ensure high-performance and manufacturability
Perform optical simulation, stray light analysis, and evaluation to ensure optimal system performance
Develop and maintain performance models and link budgets to predict system behavior
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and high-volume production
Optimize lens designs for high-volume manufacturing, considering factors such as tolerancing, fabrication, and assembly
Qualifications
Advanced degree - Master's or Ph.D. (preferred) in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience in optical and lens design
Proficiency in optical simulation tools such as Zemax, Code V, and FRED
Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and high-volume production considerations
Integration experience with AI acceleration architectures is a bonus
Start-up mentality is a must for this position
