Primary Responsibilities:
Primary focus will be on the GIS customer connectivity project.
Project will have specialized training that differs from current training provided to existing contractors.
Responsibilities will involve reviewing customer addresses/accounts and validating or relocating those accounts to the closest transformers in GIS.
Using our existing data analytics and algorithms that score accuracy of the data, contractors will determine if customers are correctly linked to their assigned transformer or need to be reassigned to the algorithms suggested transformer.
Contractors will also evaluate whether the suggested transformer provided by the algorithm is the best option for relocation.
Judgment calls will be required to identify outliers and ensure data accuracy. Additionally, we want the flexibility to have these contractors backfill positions within our division if a contractor leaves the group.

Company Overview
We are seeking a skilled GIS Mapper to join our established utility company's team. This role focuses on maintaining and analyzing our electric utility infrastructure through geographic information systems, combining technical expertise with practical field applications.
GIS Mapper Responsibilities
Maintain and update the GIS connected model for electric utility systems using work management systems, as-built construction drawings, and field reports
Perform spatial analysis and create custom maps to support operational decision-making
Process work orders and maintain service point data, including transformer relationships
Track utility asset lifecycles, including history, inspection data, and attachments
Execute GIS work for major projects including facility relocations and load rearrangement
Conduct field investigations as needed (approximately 5-10% of time)
Create and distribute system updates through standard prints and ad-hoc plots
Resolve data conflicts related to mapping, connectivity, and land issues
GIS Mapper Required Qualifications
1-2 years of GIS experience (academic or professional)
Proficiency in GIS applications and understanding of spatial relationships
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Valid New Jersey driver's license
Proficiency in MS Office and Windows applications
GIS Mapper Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microstation and AutoCAD
Background in utility systems
Knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems
Experience with computer-aided drafting
Working Environment
Occasional field work required (personal vehicle usage may be necessary)
Multiple client location work possible based on business needs
Collaborative team setting working with various departments
