Description:

Job Title: Image Quality Engineer III

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Redmond, WA, 98052

Summary:

In this role, you will work with a team of scientists & engineers, using internally developed simulation tools to predict system level performance of novel products and prototypes. Analysis of the simulation results will be used to directly improve product/prototype performance.

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:

camera - image pipeline design

display - image pipeline design

tone mapping and gamut mapping

general background image signal processing or digital signal processing

experience with optical or distortion correction, color imagery

Good to have skills:

NOT someone who can tune the image pipeline, but DESIGN

Understand what they are doing and why they are doing it

More than just tuning but Theory and Depth

Seeing projects through end to end

Systems level engineering

Job Responsibilities:

Use simulation tools to model end-to-end performance of display systems

Report analysis of these simulations to establish specifications for these display systems and ensure a successful product

Collaborate with the larger research team to explore concepts and drive system performance to create compelling experiences

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of several of the following:

µLED, OLED, LCD, LCOS, DMD, etc based displays, display metrology/calibration, image signal processing, camera ISP, display pipeline architecture, digital filters, colorimetry, color space conversions, imaging waveguides, image quality metrics, human perception.

Experience with image algorithm/ISP development, convolutions, Fourier transforms

Deep experience in MATLAB

BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Computer Science, Color Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work/education experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

MS in the field of Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related degree, PhD preferred

5+ years of experience in research or advanced display/camera development.
