A Long Island-based health services network is looking to boost their growing Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team with the addition of a new Vocational Specialist. In this role, the Vocational Specialist will be responsible for supporting individuals with serious and persistent mental illness in achieving meaningful vocational and employment goals as part of their recovery.
About the Opportunity:
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: 9am to 5pm
Responsibilities:
Provide direct vocational counseling and job-readiness support to ACT clients
Help clients identify interests, build employment goals, and pursue educational/vocational programs
Coordinate with outside employment agencies and vocational resources
Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in compliance with program and regulatory standards
Complete intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up documentation within required timeframes (typically 48 hours)
Submit progress notes aligned with treatment goals and visit content
Conduct group sessions and ensure group goals align with each client's plan
Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage & Family Therapy
Familiarity with Vocational Rehabilitation methods, Recovery-oriented Care, and Community-based Treatment models
Desired Skills:
Previous experience working with individuals with Serious Mental Illness
Experience with Group Facilitation and Individual Vocational Counseling
