ROLE: CONTROLLER
FIRM OVERVIEW The Firm is a leading private equity firm with approximately $3+ billion in regulatory assets under management and is currently investing out of Fund III. This established Firm offers excellent long-term growth. Located in San Francisco financial district, this Firm will require 4 days/week in office.
CAREER OPPORTUNITY The Controller will be primarily responsible for maintaining the accounting records of the Firm’s investment funds and management entities and liaise with the third-party fund administrator on investment and affiliate funds. The Controller will report to the CFO / CCO and work closely with other members of the firm. This position will play an integral part in completing the funds’ periodic closings, quarterly financial reporting and analysis, and other key processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting for Firms’ investment funds and management entities
Liaise with third-party fund administrator, auditors and tax preparers
Monitor compliance with partnership agreements and relevant side letters
Assist in the annual audit and tax preparation
Accounts payable, SVB reconciliation/entries in QB and assist with ad-hoc projects
Assist with compliance filings- ADV, Form PF and 13F, as well as other filings
Assist with quarterly deck inputs for Investor reporting
Track custodial certificates and other instruments
Perform the accounting and reporting for all SPV’s
Assist with annual insurance renewal for the fund and management company
Assist in the coordination of the management of the outsourced IT consultant
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
7+ years of private equity or venture capital accounting experience or relevant experience within public accounting with focus on private equity/venture capital funds
Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience with fund level accounting
Tax experience is a plus
Experience in preparing general ledgers and financial statements for partnership entities
Strong computer skills including high proficiency in Excel and Word; QuickBooks a plus
Must have an outstanding attitude, strong work ethic, and be self-motivated and proactive
Ability to multi-task and balance priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
