Staff Backend Engineer – Fintech Platform

We are seeking a highly experienced Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will drive technical strategy and execution for our Fintech platform, influencing multiple domains, including applications, account transactions, fraud detection, risk management, and rewards.

Your Impact

Technical Leadership & Execution

Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance systems for co-branded credit card products.

Guide both greenfield development (0-to-1) and the scaling of successful products.

Take a hands-on approach in solving complex architectural challenges, setting a high technical bar for the team.

System Architecture & Design

Architect end-to-end solutions with security, compliance, and performance in mind.

Evaluate and select best-fit technologies, frameworks, and tools to meet current and future platform needs.

Ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and streamlined maintenance in system design.

Collaboration & Communication

Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and scalable implementations.

Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Clearly communicate technical updates, challenges, and strategic insights to executive leadership.

What You Bring

10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading technical direction for teams or organizations.

Expertise in Java, Python, and AWS.

Proven ability to architect and scale complex backend systems.

Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for driving technical excellence.

Work Environment

Hybrid role in San Francisco – 4 days per week in person.
