Job Title: GI Contracts Developer / System Analyst

Location: Newark, NJ

**This role will be hybrid/onsite 2 days a week*

About the role:

As a Software Engineer in our Group Insurance (GI) Product Development Journey, you will partner with Product Owners, Technical Leads, Designers, Scrum Masters, Architects, and Engineers to modernize and automate our Contracts and Certificates system. You will document, research, design, create, test, and deploy new solutions for the Contracts team that will allow our Journey to move to a new Quadient solution in the future for Contract automation and creation. You must demonstrate strong logical and creative problem-solving abilities, good oral and written communication, and excellent analytical skills.

You will be part of a team who will deliver new GI Products to the marketplace that utilize reusable contract solutions. Speed to market and marketplace adaptability are critical to the future of the GI Product Contract Solutions which can only be achieved by building the right Contracts Platform.

Since numerous integrations are needed for this solution, it will be critical that this engineer will have great research skills, system research skills, and amazing collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with technology, architecture, product management, and design teams to drive outcomes with focus on enriched customer contracts experience.

Foster an Iterative/Agile environment.

Work across teams to produce elegant solutions to challenging engineering and business problems.

Write original code to deliver end to end solution using innovative approaches to complex design problems.

Build features, enhancements, bugfixes along with coding and unit testing.

Conducts troubleshooting and remediation of production problems when needed.

Support the features in all environments and provide/maintain supporting documentation.

Remediates defects found in code through the lifecycle of the code.

Reverse engineers code as needed and research application integrations.

Application Programming Interfaces (API) experience: Consumption & Development; implementing service-oriented architecture (SOA) patterns; Web service technologies such as APIs, REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL.

Unit, interface and end user testing concepts and tooling (functional & non-functional).

Automated testing, Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).

Experience in Group Insurance Contracts creation and automation utilizing Quadient or Open Text.

Dev Ops Tools & Practices: Branching techniques and usage of GitHub, Bitbucket or Subversion; DevOps, Jenkins

Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Telemetry, monitoring, and logging in Production

Required Skills & Expertise:

Technically knowledgeable around JSON, XML, XSLT, DLFs, and a conceptual understanding of APIs/integration patterns with APIs and other systems

Experience working on Quadient and/or Open Text with research capabilities into integration with applications that produce XML and DLFs

The individual will design, create, test, and deploy solutions across multiple technology domains and will have the opportunity to influence, differentiate, and guide our business and technology solutions by implementing the robust technical capabilities that will enable Prudential to better serve our customers.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are an absolute must.

Jira and Rally experience is a must for software development tracking.
