Senior Cloud Network Automation Engineer

Location: Pleasanton, CA // Phoenix, AZ // Plano, TX

Hybrid role: 2 days onsite

Duration: 6+ months with potential extensions // Conversion to FTE based on contract delivery and value addition

Sr. Cloud Network Automation Engineer SME

Key Responsibilities:

1. Automation Framework Development:

· Design, develop, and implement automation workflows using Ansible and Terraform to manage cloud networking resources in Azure and GCP .

· Create reusable modules, playbooks, and templates to standardize network provisioning, configuration, and monitoring processes.

2. Cloud Networking Architecture:

· Collaborate with cloud architects to design scalable, secure, and high-performance networking solutions for multi-cloud environments

· Automate the deployment and management of Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and routing configurations.

3. Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

· Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts to automate the provisioning and lifecycle management of cloud resources.

· Ensure compliance with company policies, security standards, and industry best practices.

4. CI/CD Integration:

· Integrate automation tools with CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous delivery of network changes.

· Implement version control and testing strategies to ensure code quality and reliability.

5. Troubleshooting and Optimization:

· Monitor and troubleshoot automated workflows to identify and resolve issues quickly.

· Optimize existing automation processes to improve performance and reduce operational overhead.

6. Collaboration and Mentorship:

· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, security, and application development, to align automation efforts with business goals.

· Mentor junior engineers and share expertise to build a culture of automation excellence.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

· Maintain comprehensive documentation for all automation workflows, scripts, and processes.

· Provide regular updates and reports on automation progress, challenges, and outcomes.

Required Qualifications

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience:

· 5+ years of experience in cloud automation, with a focus on Azure and GCP environments.

· Proven expertise in using Ansible and Terraform for automating cloud infrastructure.

· Hands-on experience with cloud networking concepts such as VPCs, subnets, firewalls, NAT gateways, and load balancers.

Technical Skills:

· Proficiency in writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible.

· Strong understanding of Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and GCP Deployment Manager.

· Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

· Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

· Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS) and security best practices.

Certifications (Preferred):

· Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-305).

· Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Network Engineer).

· HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.
