Job Title: AWS Cloud Architect
Location: Atlanta, GA or Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid – 3 days in-office, flexible days)
Contract Duration: 12-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to join our Cloud Security Architecture team. This is a new role in support of ongoing cloud security initiatives. As an AWS Cloud Architect, you will focus on the design and architecture of secure cloud solutions, primarily in the AWS environment. You will work closely with other architects, security teams, and business stakeholders to define and document cloud architecture patterns, ensuring that security principles are embedded throughout the architecture and design.
This role requires deep expertise in cloud architecture, cloud security, and Kubernetes environments. You will not be directly involved in hands-on implementation of Sentinel policies or SCPs, but you should understand how these policies work and how they interact with other teams, particularly Information Security, IAM, and Network Security. Your primary responsibility will be to evaluate, design, and document cloud architectures that adhere to best practices for security, scalability, and performance.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days in the office per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture Design: Design and document AWS cloud architectures, ensuring that they meet security, scalability, and performance requirements.
Security Principles: Work with security teams to evaluate cloud services and their security posture, ensuring that best practices are followed.
Kubernetes Knowledge: Provide architectural guidance for Kubernetes environments, including both security and operational best practices.
Documentation: Write Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and other architectural documentation to communicate design decisions to stakeholders.
Collaboration: Collaborate with IAM, Network Security, and other teams to understand and address security requirements in cloud architecture.
Engineering & Architecture Meetings: Participate in meetings with engineering teams and other architects to review designs and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Business As Usual (BAU): Manage communications, emails, and collaboration tools to keep projects on track and ensure smooth communication across teams.
Skills & Qualifications:
Cloud Architecture Expertise: Strong experience in cloud architecture design, particularly with AWS.
Security Knowledge: Deep understanding of cloud security principles and the interaction between IAM, Network Security, and cloud environments.
Kubernetes: Hands-on experience or understanding of Kubernetes, preferably in the context of cloud environments (e.g., EKS).
Documentation Skills: Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to create clear and comprehensive architecture decision records (ADRs) and other documentation.
Cloud Security Tools: Familiarity with cloud security policies, SCPs, and tools such as Sentinel, though not expected to implement them directly.
Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and documenting technical decisions.
