This candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of quality assurance processes. Throughout the implementation and maintenance process, this candidate should use data analysis to better understand quality reporting measures and improve processes.

The Quality Engineer will lead and facilitate the implementation of quality initiatives and their continual improvement. Responsible for the day-to-day site quality engineering activities including material disposition, internal/external concern management, APQP / FMEA / PPAP activities, audits, and training. Lead, coach, and facilitate problem solving, analysis of data and continual improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify, analyze, and provide solutions for production and quality related problems and opportunities. Assist in developing corrective actions and implementing process improvements, cost reductions, productivity improvements to eliminate non-conformance.

Assist manufacturing in resolving problems which may occur during any phase of operation on new or existing product to assure compliance to Customer requirements and IATF 16949 Quality Standards.

Sample parts in accordance with established procedures and instructions. Perform all required tests as required. Assist with stop/start quality checks on appropriate transfer lines.

Assure that predicted improvements are implemented, measured, driven to closure, and crossed to operating results.

Responsible for day-to-day quality support and training.

Technical quality liaison between the customer and site manufacturing process.

Responsible for customer concern management and corrective action request process.

Responsible for and/or participate in material review board activities.

Represent quality assurance team in Advanced Product Quality Planning process and control plan development.

Facilitate the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Process Sign-off (PSO) and other customer specific requirements.

Participate in establishing yearly quality measurable targets. Develop improvement plans and develop objectives to achieve those goals.

Participate in the layered audit process and as an internal management systems auditor.

Organize and schedule projects in coordination with Plant Management as assigned.

Qualifications:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.

2 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.

Working knowledge of statistical techniques, data analysis, and root cause tools.

Experience in a process driven, high volume manufacturing facility (Tier 1 Automotive Supplier) preferred.

Working knowledge of GD&T.

Metallurgical background a plus.

May require up to 10% travel.

Competencies:

Demonstrated ability to be proactive and take initiative and organize multiple projects and establish priorities.

Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications and ability to learn and correctly use software programs.

Self-directed goal-oriented individual possessing excellent communication, presentation and organization and leadership skills.

Strong problem solving, organization and project management skills.

Ability to train others using demonstration, written, and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of LEAN tools and Descriptive Statistics.

Knowledge in Quality & Environmental Systems such as IATF16949 & ISO 14001
