Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Windows Engineer with strong expertise in Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPO), and on-premises Windows infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and troubleshooting of Microsoft-based systems within a hybrid environment. You will play a key role in maintaining system reliability, ensuring security compliance, and supporting business-critical IT operations.
THIS ROLE IS 5 DAYS ON-SITE IN JERSEY CITY
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and monitoring.
Design, implement, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPO) to manage user and computer settings across the enterprise.
Administer and maintain Active Directory including domain controllers, users/groups, OUs, permissions, replication, and DNS.
Perform on-premises server administration, including physical and virtual server management (Hyper-V/VMware).
Participate in incident resolution, root cause analysis, and escalation support for Windows-related issues.
Implement and enforce security policies and best practices related to authentication, access control, and system hardening.
Work closely with other IT teams to support deployments, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure projects.
Document system configurations, changes, and procedures.
Support backup and disaster recovery planning and testing for Windows systems.
Provide tier 2/3 support for escalated Windows system and infrastructure issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
8+ years of hands-on experience as a Windows Systems Engineer or similar role.
Strong expertise with Active Directory architecture, security, replication, and troubleshooting.
Deep knowledge and experience with Group Policy creation, management, and troubleshooting.
Experience with Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 in an enterprise environment.
Solid understanding of on-premises infrastructure, networking concepts, and server roles (DNS, DHCP, DFS, etc.).
Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration tasks.
Familiarity with ITIL practices, change control, and enterprise ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
Strong documentation and communication skills.
