OMNI Cobol Developer

Get To Know The Opportunity:

This role is for a Senior COBOL developer to focus on highly visible, complex and critical business priorities developing and supporting Cobol in a Linux environment. Develops plans for defining, developing and supporting significant information technology components supporting the Workplace Solutions line of business.

The Contributions You'll Make:

Serves as Cobol technical expert, resolving problems of systems integration, compatibility, and performance in a Linux based environment.

Builds and maintains systems based on applications architectures to improve business processes and in alignment/support of critical business strategies.

Assesses the business and organizational implications of key application technology alternatives for wide-impact initiatives to recommend appropriate strategic action.

Facilitates continued process improvements within team.

Determines organizational impact of software maintenance issues and develops overall strategy to address them.

Integrates activities with business units and collaborates to ensure project costs and schedules are properly estimated and controlled.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience:

Extensive experience as a Cobol developer in a Linux environment

Knowledge and experience with OMNIPlus and OMNI Scripting

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or a directly related field, or equivalent work experience.

5+ years of software engineering and development

Significant experience in large-scale integrated online RDBMSs across multiple hardware and software platforms.

Significant experience in new computing architectures and implementation of networked computing structures.

Significant experience across multiple platforms/technologies including OO programming experience, including Java and C++.

Experience developing Cobol in a Linux or UNIX environment. WIll consider Mainframe experience with anyone willing to learn Linux
