Description

The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for managing and processing multi-state payroll, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining accurate payroll records. Manage accounts payable functions, reconcile bank statements, and contribute to month-end close procedures, helping to manage and maintain the financial health and integrity of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the process and all aspects of weekly and bi-weekly payroll as a multi-state employer, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees.

Verify and process timesheets, overtime, benefits and deductions.

Reconciliation of payroll and client billing.

Ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations.

Maintain accurate records, identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.

Coordinate with People & Culture to verify employee status, pay rates and deductions.

Prepare payroll-related reports and benefits reconciliations, etc.

Maintain payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

Respond timely & professionally to payroll and accounting inquiries.

Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll laws and regulations.

Prepares, posts, verifies, and records payments and transactions related to accounts payable.

Ensure timely and accurate payments to subcontractors.

Ability to work flexible schedule for Pacific and Eastern time zone payrolls.

Maintains and updates vendor and subcontractor files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.

Reconciliations of month end and year end GL.

Prepare audits as requested, per business needs.

Complete any additional tasks as requested by management.

Essential Characteristics and Competencies:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite as well as other accounting software programs.

Ability to operate related office equipment, such as laptop, docking station, scanner/copier.

Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers, vendors and co-workers.

Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities:

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting preferred.

5 years of payroll and/or accounting related experience required. Preferably 2 years specific to accounting.

Excellent Proven verbal and written communication.

Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel, data entry, etc.

Flexible working schedule to be able to respond to business needs across multiple time zones.

Salary Description

$58,000-$68,000/year
