Job Description:Sherpa 6, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Marine Corps MAGTF, focusing on the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) ecosystem (ATAK, WinTAK, TAK Server, TAK-X) and complementary emerging technologies, including Sherpa 6’s Watchtower platform.
In this role, you will work directly with Marine Corps stakeholders, Sherpa 6 developers, and mission partners to lead requirements gathering, solution implementation, and stakeholder coordination — aligning cutting-edge technology solutions with the evolving operational needs of the MAGTF community.
You will provide technical leadership for integrating the TAK ecosystem while also supporting the deployment and customization of Watchtower, Sherpa 6’s enterprise mobile and device management platform that centralizes the management, security, and configuration of tactical devices and apps, including TAK clients.
This position requires a broad technical background in software-oriented systems engineering, with experience designing, integrating, and supporting tactical software solutions. Hands-on familiarity with TAK systems and experience supporting DoD tactical users is highly desired. Knowledge of the Marine Corps mission environment is a strong plus.
You will also help advance the MAGTF’s transition to data-driven, AI/ML-enabled operations, supporting Watchtower’s advanced capabilities such as Roadmap, Requirements Analysis, and Chat Interface features.
This is a customer-facing role requiring proactive leadership, technical creativity, and a strong commitment to operational excellence. Your work will directly enhance situational awareness, data integration, and decision-making for MAGTF users.
Responsibilities:
Lead TAK integration and software engineering efforts to support Marine Corps MAGTF requirements.
Coordinate with Sherpa 6 developers, USMC stakeholders, and partner organizations.
Provide systems engineering support for TAK Server deployments, TAK plug-in development, and TAK client configurations (ATAK, WinTAK, TAK-X).
Support the deployment and sustainment of Watchtower, including configuration of devices and apps (including TAK clients) across operational units.
Manage data ingestion, app alignment scoring, and requirement traceability functions.
Support the design and execution of system enhancements, including data federation and interoperability between TAK and other mission systems.
Apply MBSE principles to develop models, requirements, and system architectures.
Utilize MBSE tools such as MagicDraw/Cameo Systems Modeler or CORE for architecture modeling and analysis.
Advise MAGTF leadership on system architecture, future capability enhancements, and emerging technologies (including AI/ML integration).
Facilitate user feedback collection and lead iterative development cycles.
