We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Strategic Communications Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will assist in the development and execution of strategic communications initiatives, supporting senior leadership and ensuring that key messages are clear, consistent, and effectively reach internal and external audiences. This includes developing content for executive briefings, public messaging, stakeholder engagement, and managing communications platforms and calendars.

This position will be located onsite at the Pentagon.

This position is for future work and contingent upon government award.

Responsibilities

Review or assist in reviewing briefings, reports, and correspondence to ensure proper format, grammar, punctuation, and alignment with the voice and tone of senior leadership

Maintain and update a Strategic Engagement Calendar to track key events, meetings, and milestones, ensuring accuracy and accessibility

Populate weekly leadership slides and calendars with relevant updates and communications priorities

Update and manage SharePoint documents, including guidance materials, rosters, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring information is current and easily accessible

Support the development of talking points, speeches, articles, and spotlights in coordination with subject matter experts

Draft or assist in drafting external communications and media engagement materials for various forums and functions

Coordinate with leadership and subject matter experts to prepare for key speaking engagements, interviews, and public events

Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all communications, particularly those involving sensitive policy or personnel topics

Qualifications

Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance is required

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; a Master’s degree in a related field is highly preferred

5 or more years of experience in communications, public affairs, or a related field, with preference for experience supporting government or military initiatives

Strong writing and editing skills with an eye for detail, ensuring accuracy, tone, and consistency

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with SharePoint

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines

Basic understanding of military or federal government structures and protocols

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with military or federal education, training, or personnel policies

Experience supporting executive-level leadership in a military or government setting

Knowledge of strategic communications best practices, including public relations, executive messaging, and branding

Our goal is to provide a compensation package that reflects the value you bring to our team, is competitive with market rates, and promotes your financial security and personal well-being. The annual salary range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000. Please note that the salary information provided is a general guideline.
