Job Summary
The Human Resources Specialist provides daily support and direct engagement with employees, first and mid-level managers and owners regarding all human resources functions. This position requires a passion for recruiting, supporting and developing talent through our company’s policies and managing procedures.
Summary of essential Job functions
Compliance with all policies and legal requirements
Solid knowledge of various HR functions and administrative responsibilities
Working knowledge of HR functions and procedures (payroll, benefits, 401K compliance, recruitment, training, onboarding, unemployment responses, worker’s compensation claims)
Administration of benefit elections utilizing third party websites
Preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, job transfers, promotions, wage changes, disciplinary action notices, terminations
Effectively explain human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards to new and existing employees
Ensure new hire paperwork is completed and processed timely
Actively participate in the hiring process, which includes coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, hosting interviews as needed, performing reference checks, etc.
Partner with Human Resources Manager to discuss employment relations issues, such as work complaints and/or any harassment complaints promptly when notified of the issue
Administrative duties; including upkeep of employee records (attendance, EEO data, etc)
Maintain accurate, detailed notes regarding workplace injuries; partner with Safety Manager to assess risk and identify corrective action plans
Summary of secondary Job functions
Compose, review and/or revise Job Descriptions as needed
Organize and assist with hosting annual benefit enrollment process
Actively participate on safety committee initiatives
Prepare and remit compliance reports under Human Resource Manager’s direction
Assist with Employee Newsletter content as needed
Attend job fairs (occasionally, as needed)
Perform other duties as assigned by management

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management, or related field preferred. Associate degree or equivalent work experience is acceptable.
High School Diploma/GED Required. EEO
