Vertical Mill Operator - Summary of essential Job functions:
CNC operators use computer-controlled machines to fabricate parts from metal. Produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards for custom parts for ACMF customers.
Program Vertical Mill by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches
Calculate requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs
Sets-up Vertical Mill by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads
Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; Performs test operations to ensure the product is made to specifications
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Run the machine and monitoring it for problems
Make adjustments to the operating speed based on vibrations and sounds that may indicate a malfunction
Inspect any material from waterjet, laser, saw, and/or weldments
Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
Perform all dimensional inspections
Operate multiple machines
Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
Perform prescribed maintenance as required; Clean and maintain equipment
Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely

Qualifications required
High School Diploma or equivalent education experience
Certificate or associate's degree programs in machine or manufacturing technology
Relevant coursework covering blueprint reading, computer-aided design, machining principles, and metals
Minimum 1 year manufacturing experience in a machining environment
Ability to read blueprints
Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance
Familiarity with the following machines, preferred: Mighty Viper (3axis CNC vertical milling machine), Haas VF9 (3 axis CNC vertical milling machine), Haas VF6 (up to 4 axis CNC vertical milling machine), Haas VF4 (3 axis CNC vertical milling machine),DMG – Mori Seiki (3 axis CNC vertical milling machine)
Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills
Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper and Brass
Fork lift operation experience
Ability to work with minimal supervision, self motivated, able to work as a part of a Team with a positive attitude
Safety conscience
Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 75 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking
