CNC Machinist Trainee

HireLevel is seeking a CNC Machinist Trainee for a well-established industrial repair shop in West Frankfort, IL. This is a great opportunity for individuals with related experienceâ no prior CNC or waterjet experience is required, as training will be provided for motivated and dependable candidates.

About the Company:

With 35+ years in business, this company specializes in industrial machine repair, overhaul, and maintenance. As a trainee, you'll get hands-on training to operate waterjet and CNC equipment. .

Pay Rate: $18-20/hour based on experience.

Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist Trainee:

· Learn to set up and operate CNC waterjet machines.

· Assist with reading blueprints and work orders.

· Support tool selection and job setup with senior machinists.

· Use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers).

· Help inspect parts for quality and accuracy.

· Use basic programs like Word and Excel for documentation.

· Follow basic machine shop safety procedures.

· Understand GD&T and basic metallurgy.

· Gain exposure to design software.

· Navigate the Windows file system efficiently.

· Work with both imperial and metric units.

Job Requirements of the CNC Machinist Trainee:

· Willingness to learn CNC machining and waterjet operation.

· Basic math skills, including converting fractions and decimals.

· Interest in working with your hands and attention to detail.

· Ability to stand for long periods and handle physical tasks.

· Previous experience in manufacturing or mechanical environments is a plus, but not required.

· Familiarity with blueprints or mechanical drawings is helpful but not mandatory.
