The Prospective Group (TPG) is seeking a Cybersecurity Advisor seeking a skilled and experienced Cyber Engineer to join our team and support the protection of critical network infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise networks while ensuring alignment with cyber hygiene best practices and organizational security goals. This role requires strong technical expertise in network security, vulnerability assessment, incident response, and system engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Network Security Management: Design, implement, and maintain network security systems (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs) to protect the organization's infrastructure and data.

Cybersecurity Operations: Lead and support the operation of a Security Operations Center (SOC), ensuring the continuous monitoring of network traffic and cybersecurity events for over 140,000 hosts.

Incident Response and Threat Analysis: Coordinate and respond to cybersecurity incidents, conducting root cause analysis and remediation efforts. Utilize Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to manage event collection, vulnerability scanning, and threat detection.

System Engineering and Network Design: Provide expertise in network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, ATM, Token Ring, and fiber-optic technologies. Assist in system integration and support for large-scale communications networks.

Security Vulnerability Management: Identify, analyze, and address vulnerabilities in the network, ensuring timely patch management and risk mitigation strategies across diverse system environments.

Collaboration and Documentation: Work with cross-functional teams to establish security configurations, policies, and process improvements. Develop detailed documentation for security systems, incident handling, and threat intelligence.

Security Awareness and Training: Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and analysts, promoting awareness of emerging threats and cybersecurity best practices.

Project Leadership: Manage project timelines and team assignments, ensuring the successful delivery of cybersecurity initiatives and system enhancements. Participate in the development of strategic plans for cyber defense improvements.

Personal Attributes

Strong problem-solving capabilities and technical acumen in troubleshooting complex network security issues. Proactive in identifying security threats and implementing solutions to minimize risks. Ability to work independently and collaborate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Management Skills

Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing and leading cybersecurity teams, including personnel development and performance management. Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience leading security initiatives in alignment with customer objectives.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, PMP) are highly preferred.

Experience: At least 8 years of experience in networking and cybersecurity engineering roles, with a strong background in systems engineering, network security, and incident response. Technical Skills: Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP), security tools (e.g., FireEye, RSA NetWitness, SolarWinds, Splunk), and system administration for both Windows and Unix-based environments.

Cybersecurity Tools: Hands-on experience with security systems such as IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners (e.g., Rapid7, Tanium, ServiceNow).

Analytical Skills: Strong ability to perform threat analysis, vulnerability assessments, and incident response in high-pressure environments.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders, provide technical presentations, and draft security documentation.
