GIS Intern - Summer

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s is looking for a talented Geographic Information Systems (GIS) intern to join our team. The qualified candidate will contribute across multiple project teams and provide a range of GIS services and data analysis relating to transportation, safety analysis and environmental projects.

Responsibilities

Development, synthesis, management, and analysis of data

GIS mapping production

Editing geographic data

Performing analyses and transformations on large datasets using Esri, Excel, or coding languages (Python, R, SQL, Arcade, etc.).

Skills and Attributes

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skill

Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently with guidance

Background experience working with Esri’s ArcGIS Pro and Online.

Ability to perform basic GIS analysis and query operations

Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite especially Excel

Familiarity with coding and using Python, R, SQL, and/or Arcade expressions to automate repeated tasks

Qualifications

Currently pursuing undergraduate or master’s degree in geography, cartography, planning, engineering, computer science, transportation, or a related field

2 years of completed coursework with related to GIS is preferred

Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro and Online is preferred
