The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking Direct Support Professional II's (DSP) with three (3) years or more experience working with adults with intellectual disability (ID) and experience inside an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), residential or long-term care setting for the Indian River Road Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) in Developmental Services Division.

Sun-Mon, 6:00am to 4:00pm, Thurs-Fri, 10:00am to 8:00pm
Tues-Wed, 10:00am to 8:00pm, Fri-Sat 6:00am to 4:00pm
Sun-Thurs, 6:30am to 2:30pm
Sun-Mon, 12:00pm to 10:00pm, Thurs-Fri, 10:00am to 8:00pm
Duties:
Ensure and implement that all aspects of the individuals’ plans are executed promptly and consistently for ten (10) individuals.
Assess the accuracy of collected data and communicate the need for revisions in programming.
Assist the Shift Leader and team in assessing all client needs, recreational activities, outings, and shift assignments for the day at the beginning of the shift.
Complete tasks required for primary clients, including maintaining fund ledgers, personal inventories, room cleaning, etc.
Complete documentation for assigned responsibilities.
Maintain good knowledge of the medication process, including reviewing the MAR, passing medications without errors, verification, counts, etc.
Attend assigned medical appointments and complete medical/dental consults after appointments.
Communicate respectfully with the direct care team(s), nursing staff, Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals (QIDPs), day program staff, Legal Guardians/families/Authorized Representatives (ARs); and the general public, including medical professionals.
Participate in mentoring new staff under the direction of the immediate supervisor.
Ensure safety within the physical environment as well as food safety.
Identify and defuse crisis situations and contact necessary program staff for reporting purposes.
Maintain general Human Rights knowledge and identify situations that are reportable and to whom.

Hiring bonuses shall only be for new hires of original employment or reemployment as defined in Human Resources Policy No. 5.0.
$500 will be awarded in the first paycheck.
$750 will be awarded upon completion of the six (6) month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
$1,250 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one (1) year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
