The Research Senior Technician will assist and support the scientific investigation to study cancer as directed by the Principal Investigator within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently conduct assigned experiments
Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis
Sort and process tissue and blood samples
Test and evaluate current procedures
Perform routine procedures on lab animals
Record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results
Assist in evaluating the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
Prepare research progress reports and assist the Principal Investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
Conduct library research on requested topics through researching current literature
Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities
Assist with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
Set up and operate laboratory equipment
Monitor research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a Biological/ Health Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
